Runescape is old, Mechscape is new

In fact, Mechscape is so new, it hasn’t even been released yet. There have been no official news about it either. Some information about Mechscape has leaked onto a blog. That blog also has some prototype photos of the characters planned for Mechscape. And then there is also something called FunOrb. My guess is that it’s a portal with many games in it, rather than a game itself.

From what I’ve heard from the rumor-mill, Mechscape will run on the same technology as Runescape. So, in other words, it will be the same thing as Runescape, except different content (different graphics, different monsters, different ’stuff’) – but the game will run from the browser just like Runescape (it’ll be Java applet based). And, it will also most likely have the same playing style as Runescape… so click-this and use-it-with-this, etc. Of course, all this speculation can be totally wrong. This is all hypothesizing based on what I’D do, if I was Jagex. (I’d make 20 games based on the same ‘engine’ as Runescape, all with different content – to satisfy all tastes: a futuristic game, a present-day game, a cartoony cute game, a prehistoric one, an ocean/island one, a military one, etc. )

I wonder whether websites like Zybez Runescape Help and Tips will make a help-site with tools, calculators, and guides for Mechscape. I’d really like it if they did.

Apart from this, other games on the horizon that I’m looking forward to: Age of Conan. It’s a traditional MMORPG like World of Warcraft, but I’d still like to play it. It’s supposed to have some kick-ass graphics and stuff like mounts and realistic combat. Also, there’ll be some city-building elements and siege warfare. fun fun!
